CFS Roundtable

On the 30th of November 2017, Civil Society Organizations from all over Peninsular Malaysia with an interest in the Central Forest Spine (CFS) initiative convened for the first time to share issues faced in the implementation of the CFS, information on individual environmental CSO projects, the locations of such projects, and their contact persons.

Aside from a map containing the locations of these CSO projects in the CFS (view in Interactive map: "NGO Projects" layer under CFS LANDSCAPE), said CSOs also received a joint CFS Draft Statement that was disseminated on the 16th April 2018, 4 months after the inaugural meeting.

Once CSO feedback has been incorporated and finalized, the final Statement will be jointly-submitted to the:

1) Prime Minister,

2) Minister in PM’s Department in charge of EPU (formerly

Abdul Rahman Dahlan),

3) NRE Minister,

4) Chief Secretary to the Government,

5) Chief Ministers and State Secretaries of Kedah, Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor.

The Statement will also be copied to all Ministries including:

KSUs of all Ministries

In light of recent events (read: CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MALAYSIAN HISTORY), the above will likely require amendment, pending the appointment and final announcement of the streamlined federal government ministers and ministries.
